The 2007 Progressive Revival Retreat
will feature some very inspirational presentations and instruction on how the upcoming precinct
meetings and party conventions can be used to further the anti-war movement and other progressive
causes. For reasons stated below,
|
WE BELIEVE THIS RETREAT WILL HELP US FURTHER OUR POLITICAL BELIEFS AND GOALS.
The 2006 Elections brought us some progress toward turning the Country away from war and toward more
Progressive values and ideas. There was even a little progress here in Oklahoma. Dan Boren is now supporting the anti-war resolution, and we defeated the virulently anti-labor
Labor Commissioner Brenda Reneau.
This progress can easily be lost, however, unless Progressives become more active politically
in order to hold the new Democratic Majority's feet to the fire to actually fulfill the anti-war,
Progressive promises it made and to make sure that the 2008 Presidential elections bring a Progressive
President and Congress to power at the same time.
As a consequence, the Progressive Revival Retreat is designed to inspire
Progressives to turnout in record numbers at the March 8 Democratic precinct meetings to stand
up for their values, to register their opposition to the war, and to make sure that all precinct
officials elected that night support our values and will vote our way at the succeeding County Convention.
